The AMLF is the flagship programme of the African Media Initiative (AMI), a bold project to support greater professionalism, financial sustainability, technological adaptability and social responsibility amongst African media. By involving owners and operators in this endeavor, AMI seeks to add a powerful voice and resource to African media development efforts.
The 2012 Forum is organized in partnership with 2 key African institutions – The African Development Bank (AfDB) and The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), as well as with The Sub-Saharan Africa Media Programme of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS Media Africa). The theme for this year’s Forum is “Africa 3.0: Strengthening Media and Governance Through Citizens’ Engagement and Innovation”.
AMLF 2012 will now be held in Dakar, Senegal at the King Fahd Palace Hotel on November 8th and 9th preceded by registration and a welcome cocktail on the afternoon and evening of the 7th of November 2012 at the same venue. The Forum was moved from Abidjan for logistical reasons.
As in past years, the Forum will bring the best African and international expertise to help guide our deliberations over the two days. To allow for rich discussion and maximum interaction, the Forum format will consist of a combination of plenary and parallel breakout sessions on:
- Funding & Business Development
- Technology & Innovation
- Ethics & Leadership.
